Species detected
During the summer of 2024, COCO began testing field methods with COCO volunteers collecting the eDNA samples. Three groups of volunteers collected a total of 37 eDNA samples on our behalf: the Community Eelgrass Restoration Initiative, a third-year marine biology class at Dalhousie University, and a working professional with no scientific background.
Across all these samples, the DNA of 30 fish species was detected with high certainty.
