In summer 2025, eDNA samples were collected from 5 of the 6 COCO communities during initial outreach events: Yarmouth, Liverpool, Sheet Harbour, Canso, and Louisbourg. At each community, three eDNA samples were collected by filtering 2 L of water through a filter. After lab and bioinformatic processing of the filters, the DNA of 26 different fish species was detected.
